Lava Brown™ leather welding workwear for optimal protection with comfort preservation

Lava Brown™ welding clothing offers a perfect balance between protection, durability, and comfort for welders. Made from A-grade split cowleather, the leather welding workwear is designed for comfortable work. The flame retardant clothing ensures excellent protection against heat during various welding techniques, such as MIG/MAG welding, glass welding, or gouging, where small and large welding droplets are released.
A-grade split cowleather
Lava Brown™ welding clothing is crafted from A-grade side split cowleather. Split cowhide is heat and flame resistant. Leather from the side of the bovine offers the best strength and most consistent quality. Side split cowhide is quite sturdy and resistant to daily wear, yet it is also soft and flexible, making it comfortable to wear. The Lava Brown™ welding clothing uses large pieces of split leather wherever possible. For example, the front of the welding jacket consists of one piece of leather, and the welding apron consists of only four pieces. This minimizes seams, reducing the risk of seam burn-through or jacket damage.
Class 2 – EN11611 certification
The Lava Brown™ line includes various garments, including leather welding jackets and aprons, welding trousers, leather shin guards, and leather welding sleeves. All leather welding clothing is manufactured with attention to detail and craftsmanship to meet the highest standards for safety and durability. The welding workwear is specifically designed to protect welders from flames, splashes of molten metal, radiant heat, and brief, unintentional electric contact.
The key feature of Lava Brown™ fully leather welding clothing is its certification as class 2 according to the EN11611 standard. Only the welding jacket with the flame retardant cotton back (44-7300/P and Arc Queen™ 44-7300/P-AQ) falls into class 1 due to its breathable back. Nevertheless, they offer the same protection on the front as the fully leather welding jacket. In addition to being indicated on the welding clothing, this certification information is also provided on all Weldas clothing labels, each with a unique code that allows tracing the entire production process of the product.
Leather welding jacket
Within the Lava Brown™ line, there are multiple welding jackets available. A fully leather welding jacket (44-7300) and a welding jacket with a leather front and a back made of 315 gr./m2 flame-retardant cotton (44-7300/P). Both jackets have flame retardant cotton incorporated into the collar for increased wearing comfort. The collar can be closed with Velcro to prevent flying welding spatter from reaching the neck or throat. Also, a double closure with Velcro and snap buttons on the front ensures that welding spatter cannot penetrate the clothing under the leather welding jacket. An inner pocket provides the opportunity to store items without the risk of welding spatter getting into the pocket or the risk of fire around protruding objects, for example.
Women’s welding clothing
Within the Lava Brown™ clothing line, Weldas has also considered female welders. The Arc Queen™ leather welding jacket is specially designed for women. This Arc Queen™ welding jacket shares the same design as the 44-7300/P leather welding jacket with a flame-retardant cotton back but features a more tailored cut. This provides female welders with the same protection but with a more comfortable fit.
Reinforcement
The welding clothing in the Lava Brown™ line is sewn with 5-thread Kevlar thread for added strength. To ensure durability, the snap buttons are attached to a double layer of leather. This prevents them from tearing easily when putting on and taking off the welding jacket. This reinforcement against tearing can also be found on other welding clothing items. Rivets are placed wherever two layers of leather or leather and cotton come together. To prevent electricity transmission, the rivets are covered with a plastic cap on the outside and an extra piece of leather on the inside. This provides extra safety and reliability for the welding clothing.
Raglan sleeves for optimal comfort
Welding workwear is essential for welders. It is important that it not only provides protection but is also comfortable to wear. A notable feature of Lava Brown™ welding gear is the use of raglan sleeves. The angled seam running from the armpit to the neck allows the welder to move their shoulders more smoothly compared to clothing with straight sleeves. This contributes to comfort and freedom of movement during welding.
Weldas has also paid great attention to comfort in the development of welding aprons. These aprons feature a cross-closure system on the back and have no attachment in the neck. This evenly distributes the weight of the leather apron across the shoulders. Additionally, the elastic straps are adjustable to make wearing the apron as comfortable as possible, contributing to a pleasant wearing experience during work.
Flexibility with a leather cape sleeve
Raglan sleeves also apply to the leather cape sleeve. The cape sleeve extends to the chest line of the leather welding jacket. The leather bolero features a row of buttons where a leather apron can be attached. This offers the advantage that the welder has full protection on the front while the back remains open, allowing the welder to more easily dissipate heat and perspiration. Another benefit is that in the event of a hole or wear, only the apron needs to be replaced. Moreover, all detachable aprons and boleros from different brands and in all sizes can be combined depending on the desired length and model.
A leather cape sleeve can also be used as a welding sleeve, but separate leather welding sleeves are also available. These leather welding sleeves are designed to protect the forearm and elbow during welding. They are easy to put on over a flame retardant work jacket. The leather welding sleeves are connected by an elastic band that goes over the welder’s back. This provides a snug fit and offers more comfort compared to, for example, a Velcro closure around the biceps.
Various leather welding trousers
Welding workwear naturally consists not only of welding jackets and aprons but also of welding trousers. Within the Lava Brown™ line from Weldas, there are two options available: welding trousers that reach up to the hips and dungarees. Two notable choices are the 44-7248 and 44-7440, welding trousers and dungarees with an open back. These welding trousers offer protection at the front and are attached to the legs with straps. They provide the ideal solution for hot summer days. Furthermore, they have the same characteristics as welding trousers with a closed back.
The welding trousers have a pass-through pocket on the side, providing access to the trouser pocket under the welding clothing. Additionally, there is a back pocket for storing small items. They feature loops for wearing a belt, and the elastic braces with plastic flame-retardant buckles ensure that the trousers stay securely in place and do not slip down. Moreover, the welding trousers have a fly for added convenience, and at the bottom of the legs, there is a Velcro flap to easily pull the welding trousers over shoes.
The dungarees also have the option to unzip the sides to make them easier to put on over regular clothes. Like other welding workwear in the Lava Brown™ line, the zipper is covered with Velcro and a snap button. Instead of a belt, the dungarees have an elastic band for a snug fit. In addition to the back pocket, there is also a chest pocket on the welding dungarees for additional storage options.
Leather shin guards
Protecting the welder’s shoes is crucial during welding operations, especially in MIG-MAG welding, where a rain of glowing hot droplets can fall downward. Weldas offers special leather shoe and shin guards in their range to address this issue. These leather spatter guards are attached to the ankle or calf with a wide Velcro strip, allowing them to be easily adjusted to the thickness of the leg. If necessary, a leather extension is available, providing an additional 15 cm of space around the leg. With the shin guard 44-7114, there is also a reinforcement on the shin to prevent the leather spatter guard from slipping down.
Arm guard for hot materials
The final product in the Lava Brown™ line is the arm guard. This specially designed Arm Guard is ideal for welders working with preheated materials, such as pipes or plates in MIG/MAG applications. During welding, the workpiece remains hot, helping to ensure that the shrinkage occurs as stress-free as possible. The arm protector has a leather exterior, 3 layers of COMFOflex®, and the Arc Knight® flame retardant fabric on the interior. This provides both protection and comfort. With Velcro, it is suitable for almost any arm and can be easily worn over the jacket.
