The Arc Knight® welding clothing line, offers the highest level of protection and comfort for welders
The Arc Knight® welding clothing line is the latest addition to the welding clothing range. It is the golden mean between all-leather welding clothing and the flame-retardant cotton clothing from the FireFox line. This clothing line offers a higher level of protection than FireFox welding clothing with the same test result as leather (EN11611, class 2), yet it is more breathable, lighter to wear and more comfortable than a full leather welding suit. In this article, we’ll delve into the various products offered in this line.
Arc Knight® clothing line
The Arc Knight® line consists of several product components, including a welding jacket, welding apron and welding trousers, as well as head protection. The Arc Knight® clothing is characterised by a combination of flame-retardant, grey cotton and black leather. The use of cotton provides a comfortable base for the clothing, while the leather provides additional reinforcement and protection in vulnerable areas. With this addition, welders have the option of choosing welding clothing made entirely of leather, flame-retardant cotton, or a combination of flame-retardant cotton and leather
Welding jacket
Within the Arc Knight® product line, there are several welding jackets based on a welding jacket from other clothing lines. Both jackets are made of 520 grams/m2 flame-retardant cotton. However, the Arc Knight® welding jacket 38-4350 features split leather reinforcements on both the sleeves and the abdomen. In addition, several revets are attached where cotton and leather come together to prevent tearing.
On the other hand, the Arc Knight® 38-4330 welding jacket is made entirely of flame-retardant cotton with a row of snap buttons on the chest, where a leather chest apron can be attached as extra protection. This creates the same idea as the welding jacket with leather, but this welding jacket is used when someone only needs to weld occasionally.
Both the leather welding jacket and the cotton welding jacket are certified according to class 2 of the EN11611 standard and have a tight collar closure with Velcro. Additionally, the welding jackets feature a double closure at the front, with the first closure being Velcro and a press stud on top. This prevents sparks and splatters from easily penetrating the jacket, even when the welder is lying on his side. Moreover, the sleeve can be adjusted so that the cuff of the welding glove can be easily pulled over the jacket.
Welding lab coat
In addition to these welding jackets, there is also a welding lab coat or dust jacket. A long welding jacket up to the knee, perfect for someone who occasionally needs to check on welders in production without having to change clothes completely. This way, someone who does not weld themselves, but does go near them, is still protected up to their knee with this flame-retardant clothing. This lab coat is made entirely of flame-retardant cotton with black leather flaps on the pockets to reflect the black accent of the Arc Knight® line. Like the welding jackets, this lab coat features a double closure and provides just as much protection against sparks and splatters. The collar also has a Velcro closure.
Cape sleeve
Besides the welding jacket, there is also a bolero or cape sleeve in the Arc Knight® clothing line. The cape sleeve 38-4328 offers flexibility and more protection than separate welding sleeves. Again, the bolero has a double front closure and a collar that can be closed. A leather chest apron can be attached to the button row on the chest, providing leather protection on the abdomen. Indeed, this is where most wear and tear occurs. With a bolero, the back is open, allowing the welder to perspire more easily in summer or hot environments. Additionally, when working with a fall arrest harness with hook, an open back is also highly desirable. The bolero can also be used in combination with welding dungarees when extra protection is required at the sleeves and the welder finds separate welding sleeves uncomfortable.
Welding apron
The welding apron made of fully flame-retardant cotton is carefully certified, allowing you to work with full confidence. The smart closure, divided across the back instead of the neck, ensures comfort while wearing. With just one setting, you can easily fasten the apron with a clip.
The apron comes in handy for table tasks where there are no sparks released, but protection against UV light, fading or small splatters is needed. The red straps are flame retardant and the buckle closures are made of flame retardant plastic, making safety paramount. In contrast, the plastic clips are designed with a smaller resistance, so they break easily and you won’t get stuck in the machine.
Welding trousers
The 38-4360 is a robust welding trousers, made of fully cotton and based on the design of the FireFox pants. With a sturdy 520g/m2 cotton quality, these trousers are ideal for those who spend a lot of time walking around a workshop and require flame-retardant clothing. The handy side pockets offer plenty of storage space, while they can be securely closed to prevent sparks from entering. There are also loops for a belt and the option to add knee pads, providing extra comfort and protection while working.

The 38-4380 is a welding dungarees made of flame-retardant cotton. There is a zipper on the side, making it easier to put on and take off the trousers. There is also an opening at the bottom of the welding trousers, making it easy to put on the trousers without having to take off your shoes first. To meet the requirements of the EN11611 standard, the zippers are carefully covered with Velcro strips.
EN11611 standard class 2
The Arc Knight® flame-retardant clothing is tested and certified according to class 2 of the EN11611 standard. This standard specifies specific requirements for protective clothing used in welding and related processes. Class 2 is the highest possible classification within EN11611 and is intended to protect the wearer from small splashes of molten metal, brief contact with flames and UV radiation during welding and related activities. All information must also be clearly visible on a label attached to the welding clothing.
To comply with class 2 of the EN11611 standard, there are additional requirements regarding the construction and characteristics of protective clothing, including:
- Seams: All seams must be downward mounted, meaning they are positioned in a way that welding splatters cannot remain on them.
- Pockets: All pockets on the clothing should be lockable to prevent welding spatters from entering them.
- Neck closure: The clothing’s neckline must have a closure to prevent welding splatters from entering the jacket and to protect the neck and chest from potential burns.
