Golden Brown™ leather welding clothing for welders who want quality and affordability
For welders in search of an affordable option without compromising on comfort and protection, Golden Brown™ leather welding workwear is the ideal choice. Much of Golden Brown™ welding workwear is made from flame retardant and heat-resistant split cowhide leather. However, there are also several clothes made from grain leather. Both variants, like all Weldas welding clothing, are tested and certified to the EN11611 standard. In this article, we look at the different garments in split and grain leather.
Split leather welding jacket
The Golden Brown™ welding jacket stands out within this welding clothing line. While the other Golden Brown™ welding clothing falls into Class 2, this jacket is EN 11611 Class 1 certified. This is because the back of the 44-2530 welding jacket is made from 305 grams per m2 flame retardant cotton. This choice increases wearing comfort and significantly reduces the weight of the leather jacket. However, the front of the jacket is still made of leather, providing excellent protection against welding splatter and heat, comparable to Class 2. The Golden Brown™ leather welding jacket features straight sleeves. The seams on the shoulder are thereby welted to protect the 3-thread DuPont Kevlar yarn. The bottom of the sleeve can be adjusted with one step. Like other Weldas welding clothing, this leather jacket has a double closure at the front and a Velcro closure at the neck for extra protection. Rivets are fitted to reinforce stress points or where cotton and leather meet.
Leather bolero with leather welding apron
Similar to the Lava Brown™ and Arc Knight® welding clothing, the Golden Brown™ line includes a leather bolero. This 44-2800 welding bolero can be easily worn over flame retardant workwear. This makes it ideal for situations where welding is not required all day. The leather bolero is made from the upper part of the welding jacket and also has welting on the shoulders.
The row of buttons at chest height provides the option to attach a leather welding apron. Depending on the length of the apron, not only the abdomen but also part of the legs are protected. The adjustable closure on the back ensures that the apron fits snugly to the body. The leather chest apron can also be attached to the flame-retardant Fire Fox™ jacket. This makes it ideal for situations requiring temporary welding.
Shoulder apron
A unique item within the Weldas leather welding clothing is the Golden Brown™ shoulder apron. This apron, made of yellow split leather, can be adjusted with a shoulder strap and also has a closure in the middle of the back. This shoulder apron offers excellent protection for the front and arms while leaving the back open. It’s particularly suitable for schools, where not every student has their own welding jacket. However, the shoulder apron is not only useful for welding. It also provides protection against spatter when soldering, TIG welding, or other tasks involving fire or flames, such as workshops in forges.
If a welding apron is not required, but the arms still need to be protected, there is a set of leather welding sleeves. These welding sleeves are attached with Velcro closures at the top of the arm to prevent them from sliding down. They have an elastic band on the wrist side, ensuring them to stay in place and allowing gloves to be worn over them. Welding sleeves are particularly useful in summer. They are available in two sizes, with the XL size having a larger arm circumference.
Leather welding apron
In addition to the shoulder apron and the leather bolero with chest apron, the range also includes a leather welding apron. This apron protects the welder’s upper body and part of the legs from flying splatters. To prevent the weight of the leather apron from resting on the neck, Weldas has opted for a comfortable cross-over closure on the back. This distributes the weight evenly over the shoulders, significantly increasing the wearing comfort of this split leather welding apron.
Welding trousers
In addition to this leather welding clothing for the upper body, there is also a Golden Brown™ leather welding trouser and welding overall. The 44-2600 split leather welding trouser features braces to prevent the trousers from sagging due to the weight of the leather. There is also the option to wear a belt, although many welders choose not to wear a belt or use a belt with plastic buckles to prevent electrical conduction. Furthermore, the trousers are equipped with a back pocket and a pass-through pocket to access the pocket of the clothing underneath.
The 44-2648 welding overall, also known as a welding dungarees, has a chest piece on the trousers, ensuring that the welder’s abdomen is well protected. Adjustable elastic shoulder straps ensure a comfortable fit and keep the trousers in place. To easily put on the welding dungarees over workwear, there is a zipper on the side of the trousers. Additionally, there is a Velcro closure at the bottom of the legs so that the welding overall can be easily put on, even with shoes on. Thanks to the elastic band at the back, the bib overall has a close fit and offers a comfortable fit.
Leather shoe and shin guards
Protecting welders’ shoes is essential during welding operations, especially in MIG-MAG welding, where hot droplets can fall like rain. To offer welders protection from head to toe, Weldas has designed leather shoe and shin protectors. These leather splash guards protect the ankles and lower leg during welding operations. The split cowhide leather shoe protector 44-2106 is easy to apply thanks to its wide Velcro closure. For those who need more space, there is a leather extension for an additional 15 cm of space around the leg.
Golden vs Lava Brown™ welding clothing
Golden Brown™ clothing shares many similarities with Lava Brown™ welding clothing. Both brands have reinforcements with rivets, a double front closure and use leather that is at least 1 mm thick. Some differences between the welding clothing of these brands are:
Golden Brown™ | Lava Brown™ |
Made with 3-ply DuPont Kevlar | Made with 5-ply DuPont Kevlar |
Split cowhide leather | A-grade split cowhide leather |
Offers a limited number of sizes | Offers a wide range of sizes |
The jacket has straight arms and offers one sleeve reduction option | The jacket has raglan arms and offers two sleeve reduction options |
Use of multiple leather pieces | Use of as few leather pieces as possible |
Golden Brown™ grain leather welding clothing
What truly sets Golden Brown™ apart from Lava Brown™ welding clothing is the grain leather welding jacket and welding overall. Grain cow leather has an even denser structure than split leather. Moreover, it is more expensive because it can only be obtained once from a cow. The main advantage of grain leather is that it is water- and oil-repellent.
The leather welding jacket made of grain leather also has straight sleeves and welting on the shoulders to protect against burn-in from spark. The grain leather jacket is made from as many large pieces of leather as possible to create as few seams as possible. Like the Golden Brown™ split leather welding clothing, this jacket is made with 3-thread Kevlar yarn, equipped with a collar with Velcro closure, a double front closure, and rivets at every stress point. These revets are covered on the inside to prevent electricity from being conducted.
Besides the jacket, there is also a leather welding overall made of grain leather. This welding pants with breast protection has openings on the sides and bottom for easy pulling over clothes and shoes. In addition to the back pocket, there is also a lockable pocket on the chest piece for storing smaller parts. Adjustable elastic shoulder straps keep the trousers in place. Thanks to the front zipper, the welder does not have to remove the entire overall.
