Leather work gloves for optimal protection, comfort and durability
Work gloves and driver gloves have been an essential part of work equipment in various industries for decades. In the 1980s, leather working gloves were very common, but there has been a shift towards dipped gloves where the leather is (partially) replaced by a rubber layer. However, Weldas still offers high quality leather work gloves in its range, providing the best work glove for every user.
EN 388 standard
Both Weldas’ leather work gloves and driver gloves comply with the EN 388 standard. This is a European standard that specifies the requirements for work gloves to provide protection against mechanical risks. The EN 388 standard emphasises four aspects of protection: abrasion resistance, cut resistance, tear resistance and puncture resistance. Leather working gloves undergo standardised tests to measure the level of protection against various forms of mechanical stress.
Goat leather work glove with spandex
A mechanical work glove is the 10-2670 with a palm made of thin goat leather. The back is made of spandex fabric, ensuring optimum wearing comfort. These goatskin leather work gloves are multi-functional and suitable for light-duty work. The thin leather work gloves offer protection against dirt and scratches without restricting movement.
Leather palm work gloves
In addition to goatskin leather work gloves, there are also mechanical gloves made of split cowhide leather in the well-known ‘American-style’ model. The 10-2209 and 10-2209LB have additional leather protection on the knuckles to prevent them from being scraped open when hitting sharp objects or using stones. Both split cowhide leather work gloves feature a 7.5 cm long rubberised cuff, providing good protection for the wrists.
The 10-2209LB work glove is identical, except that this glove uses the characteristic brown leather from the Lava Brown™ collection. The welting provides extra strength to prevent the seams from tearing.
Increased cut resistance for optimal safety
Another American-style model glove is the 10-2806. This split cowhide leather work glove has the same construction as the gloves above, with the only difference being an extra green leather reinforcement on the thumb, index finger and palm. This gives the leather working glove a higher resistance to cuts and makes it very suitable when handling sharp objects.
Quality at a competitive price
The 10-1206 work glove is made from several small patches of split leather. This reduces costs because the patches can be obtained from multiple sections of leather. As a result, the leather may show some irregularities. Nevertheless, this glove is also EN 388-certified and offers good protection. Like other work gloves, it also has the extra knuckle protection and a 7.5 cm rubberised cuff.
Also leather driver gloves
Besides mechanical gloves, Weldas also offers leather driver work gloves. These gloves are designed with comfortable use in mind and are available in various variants for different applications. From thin and flexible leather work gloves for drivers for everyday tasks to thicker versions for handling gas cylinders and construction materials that are not hot or sharp. Each leather driver glove has unique features and applications.
Flexible and supple for maximum comfort
The 10-2064, a general-purpose driver’s glove, is made of split cowhide leather in the colour bucktan. The welting reduces the risk of the cotton-stitched seams tearing. The straight thumb provides extra comfort and freedom of movement, making these leather drivers work gloves ideal for precision tasks, such as holding tools and driving a vehicle.
Another leather driver glove, the 10-2336, combines a SOFTouch™ smooth leather palm with a split cowhide leather back. The smooth leather provides extra sensitivity at the fingertips. The straight thumb is reinforced at strategic points and sewn with KEVLAR® thread, increasing the glove’s durability. Although this leather glove has favourable features, the length of the cuff is not suitable for welding work. In such cases, we recommend using a specific welding glove for maximum safety and protection.
Robust and durable driver’s gloves
One of the thicker leather driver’s gloves is the 10-2633. This working glove is a copy of the 10-2700, but in a different colour scheme and leather type. The 10-2633 is made of supple, smooth bison leather on the palm and split cowhide on the back in the characteristic green colour of the ThunderingBison™ line. This leather driver glove is stitched with 3-thread DuPont KEVLAR®.
In contrast, the 10-2700 driver’s glove is made of high-quality cowhide leather with a reinforced palm side and stitched with cotton thread. Thanks to the use of smooth leather on both the palm and back, this driver’s glove is water- and oil-repellent. This makes the 10-2700 very suitable for drivers working in refrigerated transport, but it is also widely used for tank operations or moving large cylinders with gas bottles.
The final general-purpose leather work glove for driver’s is the 10-9334. This glove resembles the 10-2700 but has a split cowhide leather back. As a result, this glove may contain more irregularities in the leather. The leather palm is made of cow grain side leather and features a double layer of leather for reinforcement and extending the glove’s lifespan.
